Why look for a fixed-price alternative to Railway?
Railway’s Hobby plan is $5 a month and Pro is $20, and each fee is a minimum that includes the same amount of usage. Above it, Railway meters memory at $10 per GB-month, CPU at $20 per vCPU-month, volumes at $0.15 per GB-month and egress at $0.05 per GB. That suits apps with little or uneven traffic, but the bill moves with usage.
Railway does let you set a hard usage limit, from $10, that takes workloads offline when it is reached. If that protects you enough, staying may be simplest. If you would rather know the price before the month starts, the options below fix it in different ways.
Which Railway alternatives have a fixed monthly price?
Each figure comes from the provider’s own pricing or documentation page, linked under Sources, and was checked on 28 September 2026. Prices are in the currency each provider publishes, before tax. “Fixed” means different things: a price per service, per server or per plan. The fourth column says what can still add to the bill.
| Option | What is fixed | Entry price | Still billed on top | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Render | Each web service and database | Web service $7/month (512 MB); Postgres $6/month; Frankfurt in the EU | Bandwidth beyond 5 GB (Hobby) or 25 GB (Pro) at $0.15/GB; the Pro workspace plan is $25/month | The closest Railway-like platform with fixed prices |
| DigitalOcean App Platform | Each container | $5/month (512 MiB, 50 GiB transfer); Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London | Transfer beyond the allowance at $0.02/GiB; databases from $7/month | Teams already on DigitalOcean |
| Heroku | Each dyno and add-on | Basic dyno $7/month; Postgres Essential-0 $5/month; a Europe region | Each add-on has its own price | Its mature add-on marketplace |
| Sliplane | Each server, with unlimited containers on it | €9/month (1 vCPU, 1 GB) in Germany or Finland; a Berlin company | A larger server when the containers outgrow it; managed Postgres from €19/month | Many small containers on one server bill |
| Coolify on a Hetzner server | The server you rent | Hetzner CX23 (2 vCPU, 4 GB) €5.49/month; Coolify is free to self-host, or Coolify Cloud from $5/month | Your own time: you patch, secure and back up the server | Developers comfortable running a server |
| Codara Cloud | One plan per organization, shared by all its projects | Starter €5/month (0.5 vCPU, 512 MiB, 10 GiB); Helsinki | Nothing automatic: traffic is included under fair use and work past a limit is refused | Several apps and databases on one bill, in the EU |
Which alternative should you choose?
Start from how many apps you run and how much operating work you want. A price per service is easy to read for one app and adds up as you add services. A price per server or per plan stays flat as you add small apps, until the server or the plan is full.
- Choose Render if you want the Railway experience with a price per service, and Frankfurt suits you as an EU region.
- Choose DigitalOcean App Platform if the rest of your infrastructure is already on DigitalOcean.
- Choose Heroku if you rely on its add-ons and its workflow, and its dyno prices fit your budget.
- Choose Sliplane if you run many small Docker containers and want one price per server in Germany or Finland.
- Choose Coolify on your own server if you want the lowest fixed price and are happy to operate the machine.
- Choose Codara Cloud if you want several apps, their managed databases and cron jobs on one fixed plan hosted in the EU, and a beta in one region (Helsinki) fits your needs.
Where does Codara Cloud fit?
Codara Cloud is managed app hosting from Codara Solutions SL in Madrid. Like Railway, it runs web services, APIs, databases and cron jobs from a GitHub repository or an image, and an AI agent can drive it through a CLI and an MCP server. Unlike Railway, the price is a fixed plan per organization: projects share its CPU, memory and storage, and there is no usage overage.
Know the limits before you move. It runs only in Helsinki today, capacity is finite, services are smaller than Railway’s largest, and access is by invitation while in beta. If you need regions outside Europe or open sign-up today, Render or Railway itself may suit you better.
| Plan | Price / month | Service ceiling | Shared runtime | Persistent storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €5 | 10 | 0.5 vCPU / 512 MiB RAM | Up to 10 GiB persistent storage |
| Standard | €20 | 50 | 1 vCPU / 2 GiB RAM | Up to 20 GiB persistent storage |
| Pro | €50 | 100 | 2 vCPU / 4 GiB RAM | Up to 50 GiB persistent storage |
| Scale | €100 | 250 | 6 vCPU / 12 GiB RAM | Up to 150 GiB persistent storage |
How do you move an app off Railway?
Connect the same GitHub repository to the new host and copy the environment variables, leaving out Railway’s own. Railway’s database templates run as ordinary services, so export the data with pg_dump or your engine’s dump tool and restore it on the new database. Check cron schedules and the start command, test on a staging environment, then move the domain.
Questions
- What is the best Railway alternative with fixed monthly pricing?
- For one app, Render: a fixed price per web service and per database, in a workflow close to Railway’s. For several small apps on one bill, Codara Cloud (a fixed plan shared by projects, hosted in the EU) or Sliplane (a fixed price per server).
- Can I make Railway itself predictable?
- Partly. Set a hard usage limit, from $10, and Railway takes workloads offline when it is reached. Usage alerts at 75% and 90% warn you first. The bill is capped, but the app stops at the cap.
- Are fixed-price platforms more expensive?
- Sometimes. A small app that is idle most of the day can cost less on a usage-billed platform. Fixed prices cost the same in a quiet month and a busy one, which is what makes them easy to budget.
- Which alternatives host in the EU?
- Render (Frankfurt), DigitalOcean App Platform (Amsterdam and Frankfurt), Heroku (a Europe region), Sliplane (Germany and Finland), Hetzner (Germany and Finland) and Codara Cloud (Helsinki). Railway’s own EU region is in Amsterdam.
